Dr. Matt Cooper – Osteopath

Dr. Matt Cooper is a Melbourne-based Osteopath and current President of the Osteopathy Australia, known for his hands-on, patient-centred approach to musculoskeletal care. After completing a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy) at Victoria University, Matt has built a reputation for delivering practical, tailored treatment that focuses on helping people move better, feel better, and return confidently to the activities they enjoy.
Matt believes effective osteopathic care starts with understanding the individual, not just the injury. He takes the time to listen to each patient’s story, assess the underlying contributors to pain and dysfunction, and develop a treatment plan that is specific to their goals, lifestyle, and stage of recovery. His approach combines skilled hands-on osteopathic techniques, movement assessment, rehabilitation strategies, and education to help patients achieve long-term results rather than short-term symptom relief.
With a strong interest in sports rehabilitation, spinal pain, and functional movement, Matt works with a broad range of patients from office professionals and active families through to recreational and elite athletes. His background in football, cricket, and running sparked his passion for osteopathy and continues to shape his practical and performance-focused style of care.
Alongside clinical practice, Matt is actively involved in advancing the osteopathic profession through leadership, teaching, and mentoring. He teaches within the Masters of Osteopathy program at Victoria University and hosts the “PracReady” podcast, supporting the next generation of osteopaths entering clinical practice.
